Liver Cancer is a kind of tumor that affects the liver area. This type of cancer is otherwise called as hepatoma or primary liver cancer. The liver cancer is the most common type of cancer found among people in western countries. Liver cancer is a type of deadly cancer, which is never cured in most cases. People affected with liver cancer will have a shorter life span of around one year.
Liver cancer is categorized into two different types. They are the primary liver tumor and the secondary liver tumor. Primary liver tumor is not commonly found, whereas the secondary liver cancer is found in larger groups of people. In this type of secondary liver tumor, the cancer cells spread from various other parts to the liver thereby distressing it.
Liver cancer can be rarely cured through surgery. The cancer treatment is dependent on some factors like the type of cancer, its position, area affected by the cancer and how good are other functionalities of the liver. On knowing the answer to these questions treatment of the cancer patient can take place.
People with liver cancer will experience several signs and symptoms that help in the diagnosis of the disease. Massive weight loss, loss of appetite, pain in abdomen, change of face color, dark color urine discharge, heavy sweating and high body temperature are some of the symptoms for detection of cancer.
